On a recent trip to India I purchased this bronze statue. Can anyone help me out as to who it is. It looks old as well. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Chris,

It looks like Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction see this link http://www.lotussculpture.com/shiva1.htm
Ooops - godess not god
Question Author
looking at it closer - the breasts are more prominent on my statue !!! Don't see how it could be Shiva.
what is she holding? The attributes tell you more than the statue does. I would say maybe lakshmi, particularly if those are lotus's she is waving around
Question Author
The general opinion here at work is also lakshmi. They are indeed Lotus flowers shes waving about. I was interested by the age. It doesn't look mass produced - designs on the left side of her body don't match the right side ...... could it be old?
It is Lakshmi, but which one - there are dozens of them? The one that looks the nearest is called Vidya Lakshmi. The link shows the best likeness to your statue, although she only has 2 arms which is supposed to mean that she is in the presence of her husband Vishnu.
