Hi all, I know this is in the wrong category but having been on the Arts and Lit Topic and seen that 9 out of 10 Q's get no answer and having actually had no answer to a Q I posted I thought you guys might be able to help instead!
I read a book about 2 years ago and I can't remember what it was called. it was set ages ago about a woman who I think was called Mary. She ended up on a ship to Australia (I think she had a child that died on the ship) and fell in love with one of the captains. They landed in Australia and she got married and they had children on this island etc etc. I think there may have been a tv series made about it at some point but I'm desperate to find out the name of the book so I can read it again! Any ideas?Or does anyone know any websites that possibly might help although i have very little information! Thanks very much!

The Incredible Journey Of Mary Bryant
Question Author
THANK YOU OCTAVIUS!! Thats the one!! You're a star - Cheers!
No wonder there's no answers, just been there, first post is asking about Will Young reciting a poem.

Who's interested about that?
You could also try The Brothel Ship can't remeber who it's by but that is about the same thing. More fact than fiction but very readable. There was definitely a TV programme called the Brothel Ship earlier this year.
The book is actually called Remember Me by Lesley Pearse.
The title 'The incredible journey of Mary Bryant' was only the title of the TV adaptation which although was good - was rubbish in comparison to the book!
There were many books written about Mary Bryant so I thought I would just point in the direction of the TV series which ktlou referred:

Mary Bryant : her life and escape from Botany Bay, King, Jonathan; Pymble, N.S.W. : Simon & Schuster Australia, 2004.
The transportation, escape and pardoning of Mary Bryant (nee Broad), Currey, C. H.; Sydney : Angus and Robertson, 1963.
Boswell and the girl from Botany Bay., Pottle, Frederick A.; London : Heinemann, 1938.
A long way home, Walker, Mike; Chichester, West Sussex, England ; Hoboken, NJ : Wiley, 2005.
Escape from Botany Bay : the true story of Mary Bryant, Hausman, Gerald; Orchard Books, 2003.
To brave every danger' : the epic life of Mary Bryant of Fowey, highwaywoman and convicted felon, her transportation and amazing escape from Botany Bay Cook, Judith; Macmillan, 1993. ISBN 0-333-57438-9
The Fatal Shore, Hughes, Robert ISBN 1-86046-150-6
The Girl From Botany Bay, Erikson, Carolly ISBN 0-471-27140-3
Remember Me, Lesley Pearse, Penguin Books Ltd, ISBN 0-14-100649-8
