I have a 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso but my power steering is intermittent and one minute it works, and the next minute the steering is solid and hard to steer. Could any of you clever A.B'ers tell me which fuses affect the power steering and also the N/S wing mirror in the fuse box located by the battery

The problem is far more likely to be related to insufficient fluid in the power steering system than it is to be to a duff fuse.  (Fuses either carry current or they don't.  They don't function intermittently!).

However, since you've asked, see if this helps . . .

Thank you Buenchico but I have checked the fluid and it was full, I even went as far as emptying the system and refilling it with clean fluid to see if that would make any difference but it didn't.

I don't know the geometry of your car. Does the power steering pump have its own drive belt or does it share with, say, the alternator? Is the drive belt in good condition? Is it the correct tightness? If not it could be slipping. It's only whilst you are turning the steering wheel that the pump is under load and that is when it will slip. Simply having the steering in a turned position does not make it slip; it's the act of turning the stering wheel which does it.

If there's plenty of fluid, it's obviously not getting pumped around the system properly.  A new power steering pump would probably cost you around £300 (+ fitting) but you should be able to pick up a secondhand one on eBay for around a tenth of that price.

My post crossed with that from Bhg481.  We might be looking at the problem slightly differently but we're both focussing in on that pump.

I think Chris is probably right; I was looking for a simple, hence cheap, solution.
