I am not a bit religious,but this poem by E Nesbit(of The Railway Children) makes you think?

It's quite long,but do try and read it all,and let me know what you make of it.

E Nesbit was a remarkable woman,and writer.

But that sounds too much like socialism - we can't have that 😀

She was indeed a devout Socialist,a great friend of G B Shaw,and a founder of The Fabian Society.

She even adopted her husband's mistress son into her family,to live with her own children~after the mistress died!

I'd rate that poem as valid social comment but far from being 'quality poetry' in my opinion.

I don't think E Nesbit thought of it as a serious poem, but given when it was written it was powerful then?
