Quite nice pics Maydup - I would have thought maybe they would have included a picture of the Queen as our longest reigning monarch.

We get a new one next year, we are hardly recognisable anymore haha!
I can't see all the pics for some reason. I can only see the first one with the tube map. Seems very London-centric. What is the significance of 1819 at the sides, apart from Shelley's poem?
I wonder who will look at them though. I think that the existing imagery is really good but most people don't even seem to have noticed it!
Are you clicking the white arrowheads in the grey circles, Cloverjo?
^^^ The '18' and '19' are the page numbers.
Thanks, Buenchico. The numbers make sense now!
Some nice pictures, but as you say, who's going to take time to notice them? They'd be nice on our banknotes, I think.
Nice images, as I neither own a passport or think I will, thank you for the chance to view them.
Pity about the two mistakes by the Home Office.
Can you spot them. ?
Clues .... See wording on page 11/15 and page 15/15
What will happen to the cheap and nastly looking passports if we vote to leave the EU? Will we get back our own Navy Blue hardback ones?
what's that then, sirO?
I think Sir O is referring to the text at the top right describing the page ie, words not actually on the passport. Page 11/15 says "positions" instead of "positioned" and 15/15 says "recognition" instead of "recognised".
Ta, bhg.
English is probably a second language in the home office.

I agree that we will not look at them much, and it seems a shame not to be able to see more of these designs in everyday life, but I like them a lot.

Sadly I only use my passport as ID theses days, can't face a major jaunt but I will renew it all the same. Just in case!
the choice of people represented is generating some controversy:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34710261
is it the job of the designers to be truly representative? if so, why not include mary seacole of wilfred wood? where should the line be drawn (if at all)?
Let's face it, we have people in this country/on this site who aren't happy unless they're banging the drum re. racism/sexism. Their lives would be empty if they couldn't find any but fortunately, for them, they can find it anywhere and everywhere.
It's ok. Unsure why they'd want to use that weird northern angel thing though.
I'm glad they chose Ada Lovelace to be in the passport pics.

Re: women in the pics. Do we really have to be completely representative of every facet of human achievement in Britain? They can't fit everyone in.

Is Isambard Kingdom Brunel in there? Perhaps he should be. I saw a quiz show the other day where a question was which engineer designed Paddington Station and the Bristol Suspension Bridge (or something like that). The contestants couldn't even guess at a famous engineer and looked clueless when told the answer. Sorry, I'm going a bit off topic, but can we have IKB in a prominent place, please?

My hero too cloverjo. Lets celebrate all those wonderful engineering acheivements and not leave them buried in a tunnel somewhere!
