is it true that neville's parents put a memory charm on him and when he visits them the gum his mum gives him has something to do with it?

I have just finished reading all 5 HP books since Christmas, and I don't remember anything about Neville having a memory jinx.  I don't think his parents would have been able to, unless it was before they were incapacitated.
