I hadn't read the book, so I started it this morning, sitting in a coffee shop in The Lanes, with a latte and a yogurty bicuity thing. Very nice.
Couple of questions from Chapter 1 ...
1. The book says:
He stood before the giant freezer ... He picked out two lamb chops.
Neville ... dumped the groceries on the table. He poured a little water into a small pan and clanked it down on a stove burner. Next he thawed out the chops and put them under the broiler.
So okay, time out, HOW does Neville just instantly thaw out the chops while he is boiling a pan of water? Why don't they take a few hours, like normal chops?
2. Robert Neville is described as folows:
"English-German stock" "bright blue eyes" "blond hair"
Who read this novel and mentally pictured Will Smith?
I read the book years before the seriusly inferior film version was made with Will Smith, and I saw the superior film version which stars Charlton Heston, who was obviously cast to match in the with novel's description,
I recconmend that you do - there is a proper character in charge of the vampires, and it's a war of nerves between the two - unlike the simpl cartoon baddies Will Smith had.
