How Do I Find A Newspaper Article?

A letter I wrote to the Newcastle Chronicle & Journal in the noughties was published and I would love to get a copy of it. I've checked their web site but can't seem to find out how to find it.
I can't remember which year it was in. Any tips please or do I have to trawl through the last 10 years of articles?

Was it about some particular event that you could maybe google?

I was just going to ask the same - I have found 570,000 articles in that paper during 1999 to 2010. Some hint of what it was about or your surname if it is an unusual one.

It was about the change of name of an old department store owned by John Lewis now and was asking about any stories about the store and the people who used it. I put the name in but nothing came up.

the paper should have an archive and if you get in touch with them with the details they should be able to help you

Did they print your full name at the end of the letter? If they did you should be able to google your name and the article should come up. I know because I've written letters to my local rag over the years and once when I googled my name (everybody does it!), they all came up, even from many years ago! Worth a try.

I googled my name and got to page 40 before I got tired. I am there but just can't see the link to the newspaper. Grr.

the newspaper may well have old copies in their archive, though it'd take a few years to search. Ditto perhaps your local library.
