No I won't be buying the book, and I'm surprised it's the Sun she's agreed to have it serialised in.

However - pink kittens I think your remark that she is a 'disgusting woman' disgusting in itself. She has been through the worst thing imaginable, and is still going through it. Is she really doing so wrong, as a mother in turmoil, by wanting to keep her...

I think we have all read of the this tragic event in the press and I won't be buying the book. My heart goes out to the parents and I do hope the truth will one day be revealed.
I also found the Truth of the Lie link interesting. Have not heard of it before. Depressingly makes me think the truth will never be known though.

Whatever we may think about the McCanns ... stupid, irresponsible, etc ...

... they have been through an experience worse that we can imagine.

And it will never be over for them, even if Maddy turned up one day.

So maybe we shouldn't give them too hard a time.

I'm not planning on buying the book. Not because I hate the McCanns, but because I think we're all a bit McCanned out, and I don't think it will make a significant difference to the prospects of Maddy being found.
No I won't be buying the book, and I'm surprised it's the Sun she's agreed to have it serialised in.

However - pink kittens I think your remark that she is a 'disgusting woman' disgusting in itself. She has been through the worst thing imaginable, and is still going through it. Is she really doing so wrong, as a mother in turmoil, by wanting to keep her daughter;s name in the headlines and in the public's minds?

Please, don't slate a mother for not giving up on her daughter. The serialisation in the Sun, of all papers, s probably not a good idea, but she is doing what she thinks is best. My heart goes out to her, and her husband who I happen to know. They are decent people, and are paying a horrific price for one mistake.
pity she did not do her best as a mother when her daughter was there
It's very easy for us all to be perfect and say ' oooh we would never do that' and I myself wouldn't- but I have left my kids when they were little in the car for a couple of minutes whilst I popped into the Newsagents etc, and I daresay most people have if they're truthful. If you accept that they had nothing to do with their daughter's disappearance then you have to accept that something similar could have happened to most of us, it's only if you don't accept that that the 'disgusting woman' jibe is applicable.
I won't be buying the book, because I have my thoughts on the matter, and in truth I have never been able to decide in my own mind if they are innocent or culpable.
By reading this thread and all the sympathy for this Woman, has it been proved that she and her husband are innocent in all this? I know there were many suspicions that they were directly involved with the disappearance of Maddie.
Oh, and no I would never buy that book, can we believe anything in it is true or just another version of lies?
nox.....i feel mch the same as you and think they never told the truth
I may read this book......but not yet.

I read Sara Payne's book, but only years after she wrote it.

It's all too raw a subject-matter and I see that the milk of human kindness is still severely missing in some quarters of AnswerBank.
ladybirder ...

Did you order it from Waterstones or City Books?

There's a big ginger guy who stands outside Waterstones, selling The Big Issue.

There are quite a few sellers in the town, but the wild haired, beardy ginger guy is my favourite.
I don't think I could read as it would upset me too much. No matter what mistakes the McCanns have made, no one should ever have to go through what they have.
I wont be buying the book. I have a daughter the same age as Madeleine and would find it too heartbreaking to read.
<has it been proved that she and her husband are innocent in all this?>
Until the truth is out, I am using the basis of UK law, that they are innocent until proven guilty. I won't be buying the book and I definitely won't be buying that rag to read the serialisation, but my heart aches for the McCanns. I understand, fully, why they don't want to give up on their precious daughter.
Jack & Tigger - absolutely agree.
There but for the Grace of God.... For Funks Sake have we all been so darmn perfect in our childrearing, our decisions, our actions? The McCanns made mistakes, some of the comments on here have almost took my breath away with their nastiness. Do you think they deserved this?
The Sun was an understandable choice.

I know it's a raggy red top, and none of us would touch it with gloves on ...

But it does have a big circulation, and they were looking for maximum exposure.
Did Maddie deserve this? we seem to have forgotten about her!
Exactly. If she is still alive, which I doubt, what is that poor little soul going through?
jog, I agree about the circulation of that rag, but surely it would've been better to put the story in a paper that is read by people who don't just look at the pictures. Mornin', btw :)
