Now it's against the rules to post stuff unrelated to the topic heading, how do I get a message to someone to tell them to look at something I've written elsewhere? Chatterbank won't do because the person I want to alert rarely goes there - and the posts move so quickly anyway, he's highly unlikely to spot me amongst it all. A dilemma!! In the absence of PMs, I'm wondering if a separate message board for short personal messages would be helpful?

Good morning all. My flocks? What are they Society? (Maybe Naz doesn't realise I have telephones and texting in the real world).
Eds...

darlings....

merry christmas....
I notice there has only ever been one post in Word origins in the phrases and sayings section.... could we perhaps borrow it for the FAOs and other messages it would put them all in one place for policing purposes and they wouldn't clutter up the rest of the site...If you were to create a subscribed thread MESSAGES it could sit there over the holidays keeping the place tidy I know you said use the christmas thread but that doesn't seem to be working

Just a thought

"Maybe Naz doesn't realise I have telephones and texting in the real world"

Why would he?
email the ed naomi and ask them to forward the messae, I don't think the ed would mind as it is the season of good will and all that. : )

Ha ha! It's an idea, but I wasn't only thinking of me Dot.
Question Author
Naz, why indeed.
LOL Naomi... Someone once mentioned you have 'followers' on here. :-)
Question Author
Vicious rumours, Society, vicious rumours. I’m not Jesus you know!! Now there you’re really talking followers!! ;o)
HELLO naomi24.

Ron.
Question Author
Hello Ron. What do you think of this idea?
I think Ron has proved, without doubt, that posting an answer in the thread started by any individual will get their attention. ;-)
Question Author
Naz, this is like Groundhog Day. Do pay attention. there's a good chap. Whoever initiates a thread, unless it's in Chatterbank, the rules do not allow for subjects unrelated to that thread to be discussed. That is the point of suggesting a 'purpose built' section where we can be confident our unrelated posts will not be zapped. Simples!
Now. expecting me to be a good chap, will - as most people here will confirm - find you way out of your league. :-))))
Question Author
Haaaa! A bit like me then, Naz. When I'm good I'm very, very good - but when I'm bad I'm better. ;o)
There is a point to be proved here but I am getting confused as to who now is trying to prove what.

Anyway I have sent a message to you in a previous thread which you started and what I have said has nothing whatsoever to do with that particular thread. Hopefully you get it.!!
:-) ☺☺☺

Ron, I found it but only because you told me it was there and so I looked for it especially. Now how are we going to know if that will be zapped or not? As the current rules stand it should be (which is the whole reason for my suggestion) - but will it disappear? We shall see.

I don't think anyone is trying to prove anything. I made a suggestion and people are giving their opinions. That's all. I'll put you down as a 'no' then - although what difference its presence would make to people who wouldn't want to use it I have no idea.
Hi again naomi.....Please don't put me down as a 'no' because there is merit in what you have suggested. However, I do not feel that editorial staff object or 'pull' small comments that are something of asides to a topic's heading and are often a little friendly discussion...such as ..."Hi naomi, I don't know if you've seen my postings in the Ed's 'sticky' ...........? I think it would be accepted as ok, providing one apologised to the Questioner for interrupting the thread......It,s been done to me where a person has said something like "Hope you don't mind Ron if I just say hello to **** and ask how her cat is" My refraining from reporting such to the Ed would allows it to remain in print.

Anyway, seeing as you have raised your question in the Ed's Suggestions section, perhaps tomorrow he'll say something on the matter

Best wishes......Ron
Question Author
I wasn't expecting the Ed to respond, Ron. I put a suggestion in the Suggestions category as we've been invited to do, and the AB community have added their thoughts on that suggestion as they have been invited to do. If the Ed thinks it's worthy of consideration, he'll no doubt consider it. If he doesn't , he won't. I think we've said all that needs to be said.
