Just had an idea to try and prevent the appearance of the abusive and disgusting posts that are aimed towards some members of this site.

Instead of automatically getting an account with the site, how about all new applications are approved by yourselves. That gives you a chance to see if the person in question is going to start a thread aimed at trying to upset people, or if they are genuine people.

Just a though

How would you know if they were going to start an abusive thread?

BJ they could be all sweetness and light...then???
I could pretend to be a 62 year old widowed pensioner lady......
or I could pretend to be a 17 year old girl with no common sense studying chemistry.
Think that's a bit of a silly idea, new people wouldn't bother joining if they had to wait and just want a quick question answered and I don't see the point in penalising newbies bust because of some muppets who clearly don't get out much.

It would stop them creating several accounts in one evening and repeatedly coming back to abuse people. It would also give the Eds the chance to see if a dozen different accounts are coming from the same IP, and also give the idiots a chance to sober up.

Vibes, you haven't missed anything. I just joined another site, and you apply to join then they email you back 24hrs later to with approval and a password. That way they can cut down on the amount of trolls.

It would also stop opportunistic spaming as well
Bob....what about the genuine users that want to ask a question they need an urgent answer to? They'll just find another site...and AB will lose out.

I doubt this will happen. Don't most people just ignore the trolls until they are removed?

If you want Vibes. Let me just finish my lunch :-)

Oh well, it was just an idea.
Vibes, I really wouldn't class a site on medical supplies as competition to AB. However, I may start whoring out my stories to SAB.......
