Probably you got a good "buzz" (don't know the medical term) off yesterdays activities and are coming down off that.

My Dad sometimes says he gets a bit down next day after the family has been around him or he has been out on a day trip with grandsons/granddaughters.
Did you have a drink?
Just one of those days bobbs, we all have them. I was 'in a mood' yesterday for no particular reason. Not down, just in a mood.

I was in a good mood today until my ex-friend Ummm called me a tart.... :-(
could be hormonal..?
Salla....I love you, you're great...I'm not taking it back though ;-)
Nah - bobb's too old to have hormones...... ;-)

no drink at all ummm, had Ben so that was a no,no, hormonal..no, cazz, I am nearly 64..ha-ha
just feel at war with the world, thanks salla and TTG x
You wouldn't have just put thanks if you'd read what I put....

You'll bounce back bobbs - you're a tough 'un. Watch a funny dvd... I know it's not christmas, but I can recommend Bad Santa. And even if you're not gay, I can recommend I Love You Philip Morris with Jim Carrey - that'll make you feel happier.
'Down' days are part of the human condition - it's all part of the balance that stops the mind from manic mood swings.

The problem is, people assume that the medical condition 'depression' is the same thing - when it is patently not. that leads to the 'pull yourself together' attitude that is so unhelpful to sufferers of this dreadful condition.

However, to return to your question - it probably is a 'balance' to your enjoyment yesterday, and tomorrow, you will be fine again.

It''s part of the price we pay for our sophisticated mental capacity - but worth it for the fun we have, I'm sure you'll agree.
But Bobs....weren't you drinking the other night? Alcohol is a depressive...it's not just the next day it effects you.
andy, i know what you are saying, but i think the 'blues' are a depression, just a very mild form compared to the other extreme. a depression in the emotional sense rather than medical though.

ha-ha ummm, now that made me smile, I would give up the drink alltogether and become a nun if I thought it was causing depression, it was last Sunday when I had a little too much and I think it was Tuesday when I had two small glasses of Pinot Gregio, one of which I poured down the sink, it may even have been Monday night, either way , drink isn't a problem I have at all..I think AH is probably right, on a high yesterday?
Reality kicked in.
Lol Bobs...I wasn't suggesting you had a problem with drink. Just sometimes after I've had a heavy few days...a few days later I feel bit down.

Sometimes though people feel down. Maybe you were dreaming about your Mum, maybe something reminded you yesterday of happy times. The brain is a strange character.
Question Author
very true ummm, come to think of it I had a lot of weird dreams last night..must have been the sea air I think..lol
possibly O_G
My brain is very strange.... maybe you had a dream last night, which you can't remember, which made you a little sad or was a bit disconcerting.

If I have a bad or sad dream, I often wake up feeling a little sad or morose the next morning. It often stays and preys on my mind. I often dream that my children are little again and I neglect them or don't look after them properly. I never did, but this is a frequent dream and makes me sad the next day.
Question Author
that's a very interesting theory salla and ummm and worthy of a thread don't you think?
the brain plays all sorts of tricks, maybe it was a sad dream I had which has left me feeling low, thanks girls, I really appreciate what you have said x
I think we have had this conversation before Salla. But I have dreams just like yours. I often dream my son is a baby again and I have forgotton to feed him or left him in the car somewhere and I can't remember where.

Like you these dreams affect my waking hours too. Only the other day I had some really dreadful dreams about my late mother and felt really down for the whole day.
Question Author
I must say this is very interesting, thanks LL
I have dreams like that Lottie...horrible.
