Ok well i have been off work ill for 2 days with flu/cold and I have decided to come back today. Although I am not 100% I am ok to work. I was feeling happy and then a so called friend just said 'wow, you look really tired and puffy eyed' and I said 'thanks' and then she goes 'that's all you need someone coming up to you and telling you how rough you look in front of everyone'.

Anyway I don't see it so much myself when I look in the mirror - I suffer badly from sinus / allergies all year around and am taking antihistamines but does anyone know if there is anything I can do to make me look less tired / puffy eyed/sinusey? (Other than a paper bag, before someone writes that).

I feel really down now why does everyone in life seem to feel the need to tell me everyday how I look. Is it just me or do other people get this, my sis doesn't. But I feel like ever day someone makes a comment about my weight or skin (even though I have a condition) but the thing with me is that all it takes it one person to say something nasty to me and I am down for like the rest of the day. I just want to go hide away now :-(

Don't you just hate it when people do that!! It always makes me feel so much worse if soemone says I look ill. Don't worry about it, I have very dark undereyes and people are always telling me I look tired. It's rubbish, but what can you do? Don't let what other people say change how you see yourself in the mirror, I'm sure you look fine.

Thanks Yolande - i am just a really sensitive person - but i don't know i am getting so down about people saying things at me. Its not like i say how do i look? or do my eyes look bad? all i said was hi, how are you? lol and get told i look as rough as a bag of sh&te. i sit right by the door and feel everyone is walking past and looking at me now.
i get a bit like this if im eating. for example, from the hours of 8am till 4pm im at work. my lunch will be 2 sarnies, 1 pack of crisps and an apple. ill be hungry by 9.30 (usually earlier if im honest), and eat something but if someone comes in and says 'missed breakfast then' it makes me a pit paranoid (im about 1.5 stone overweight). then 11 ish i'll have my crisps, and my colleage sitting in same office says 'huh are you eating again' i get quite annoyed with it. i mean i dont eat that much compared to other people. i do think however, when im not upset or eating (!), that these people are probably just making a comment for the sake of conversing rather than ignoring you. chin up surreygirl, you are probably feeling a bit worse cos you ARE run down. xxx

Thanks mandimoo :-) and yeah i guess i take everything to heart a lot. lol funny enough i am trying to eat my sandwich and everyone keeps walking past and looking - i hate sitting in such a public spot now. I am the sort of person that hates going to restaurants and I totally hate eating in front of people too. Right well I bought some Sudafed so I am going to dose up on those such fun.
For goodness sake woman behave yourself!

It sounds like she was genuinly concerned about you and then she was self depreciating because she realised that she may well have offended you.

Cold tea bags on your eyes should help with puffiness.

And the next time someone makes a nasty comment about you calmly suggest they go play chicken with an articulated lorry... (but make sure they're actually being nasty as opposed to you being sensitive, it's a good way to lose friends otherwise).

As for eating in front of people or where your desk is situated.... in the nicest possible way, STOP WORRYING! Chances are no one is that interested... I rarely look at people eating.

Now show me some teeth and stop this insanity ;0)
Next time someone say it to you just say "I was just thinking the same thing about you actually" and watch their face!

Please dont take things to heart - most people speak first and think second. I am sure they dont mean to upset you and if they do just ignore them.

You sound like a nice lady and that is all that matters - not looks.

Thanks guys :-) i think on here you kind of write what you are thinking (if that makes sense). I will try and not let things get to me as much - its a really bad characteristic of mine and always has been. i am very over sensitive. But then again i get angry and i think what right do people have to keep judging me. I am told i am pretty blah blah blah and to be honest i couldnt care less either way what gets me is when people feel the need to tell you all the time what your flaws are.

What do they think I do get up and think oh i am a size 0 with perfect skin and look perfect - of course not who does but what pis8es me off is people (and its always the ones that look like a smacked ars4) feel the need to stop and tell me ohh your hair looks nice since you had it cut, it doesnt look like it is thinning as much now - yep that was what i got last week. This week about my eyes - the other day about my weight problems and so on...

i wouldnt mind if i was a cow myself but i always compliment people as i know how nice it is. Anyway winge over lol by the way my stalker friend came to my desk a hour or so after i had written this and i told him and he went ohhh god you are gorgeous and to be honest that cheered me up (even if he is a pest still) lol. Anyway thanks for the msgs everyone :-)
