To correct spelling etc? Also it would be a good idea if we could remove our own posts if, after posting, we feel unhappy with our comments.

It can be annoying when you read your own post and see a typing error, but if postings could be changed after the event it could lead to abuse or could change the meaning of a question. (A calls B an idiot. B reponds/complains. A then changes it to remove the reference to B being an idiot)
Many sites give you a short period of grace say 15 - 20 minutes to change your post.....
That sounds like a good idea to me. I hate it when I read back my post and see errors in it that I was sure weren't there before I hit the Submit button.
If you are using Firefox then you can enable spellchecking http://www.howtogeek....ox-text-input-fields/

and also add the British English Dictionary https://addons.mozill...US/firefox/addon/3366

I'm a proofreader - I don't makes mistakes either!
perhaps if people just paused for a few minutes and checked their post then there would be no need...surely this is quicker and easier that having to edit

and as someone states people will change their posts in order to deny offensive comments etc

if you want to add to your post or alter you meaning just add a note in the reply section

Ok just a thought, I'll shut up now lol
I've often wondered why we cannot edit posts. Over to you AB ed.
1955 - I hope your post was tongue-in-cheek..............? :o)
jack, one dot too many in your ellipsis, go back and remove it.

The idea is this is supposed to be an archive of useful information (this was before CB was invented, obviously), so it would be no good having people going back and changing things.
Some very bold statements from some folk. I like to thonk that I spell correctly but don'y always hit the right keys. I often hot the one alongside the untended one.

Ron
You're right Ron, I know I spell correctly but often hit the key next door, especially in the evening when I can't see the keyboard! There used to be a preview before submit didn't there? Did people not want that anymore?
Prudie... You are spot-on. AB should bring back the preview facility which people really need.

Ron.
Good tip bibblebub

By the way the spell checker suggested your name is actually Beelzebub so I am a bit worried now!
so in order to be able to spot mistakes in your post, you need the ability to open a new window showing identical text...??
then if you spot one you must go back to the original page of identical text to edit....??

mmm...why not just re read it before hitting submit...
We used to have a preview function. I'd like to see that back.
Hi naomi24....A view taken by myself and I feel sure Prudie

Ron.
Joko....the preview showed how it would appear. Without it sometimes when you use .....................it goes onto the next line. As with posting a smiley face you can get :-

I used to work for a very nice chap who left the company to become a vicar. He had an unusual name which spellcheck in my email insisted on changing to Vermin ***.
