It's probably deemed as a chatty question by AB. They've started to crack down on this type of question. I think AB are trying to limit questions to those where it doesn't involve peoples opinions, i.e. what's your favourite colour etc. and just keep the questions which requires a factual answer, or one that can be debated.
I thought it was a good question personally with some interesting answers.
I thought it was a good question too...some of the answers were great.
Sssssshhhh!  Stop chatting you chatty little chatterboxes............
Now you musn't get too chatty about this subject, or else it will be banned in the morning!
BigDogsWang - what was your question? Please let us know and we'll look into it. If your post was banned in error, we will be happy to reinstate it with an apology.

My question was:

Remakes & Cover versions

Further to Band Aid question earlier, the general consensus is that remakes or cover versions never seem to live up to the originals. What is your favourite cover version of a song you would consider better than the original? Mine would have to be 'She's not there', originally recorded by the Zombies in 1964, but covered superbly by Santana a few years later. Air guitar ecstacy!

Well I liked the "Mad World" cover last year.  Much better then the original in my book.

Seriously? Last years version of Mad World was better than Tears for Fears? Seriously? Each to their own I s'pose.

Mind you, that may just be becuase I love TFF.

I thought the Wheatus cover of Respect was far superior than the original.

BigDogsWang - your post was banned because it was conversational and not in keeping with this site's philosophy.

I hope you can understand that what is and isn't allowed on TheAnswerbank isn't always cut and dried. Sometimes, when a conversational post touches upon a thoughtful issue or receives well-thought-out responses it will be left untouched.

However, posts such as yours, which spark only lists of people's favourite/least favourite cover versions and such like, are removed, so as not to take up room that is at a premium thanks to TheAnswerbank's ever-increasing popularity.

Thanks for your understanding.

Really can't see what was wrong with your valid question BigDogsWang, or why it was banned!
AB Ed - I'm a little confused, on the one hand you say that bold is like shouting & yet you have posted BigDogsWang's name in bold twice - is it one rule for you & one for the users?

Smudge - only all-bold messages are frowned upon. Small pieces of bold for emphasis are fine - they're easier on the eye and often make a message easier to follow.

Hang on just a cotton picking minute!!! In the 'music' category, user name 'Yeah Bee' has asked a cover version question. Why is it still there, if mine was banned????

Didn't James do What For?

BigDogsWang - moderating this site is a sizeable task. Sometimes, such as in the case you mention above, there is a delay before unwanted questions are banned.

Thanks for the pointer.
