Go to start-control panel-classic view-double click Network and Internet connections-click network connections-right click your connection-select properties-under General tab make sure that the device listed is your correct modem-click configure-make sure the Enable modem compression box is "unchecked"-click ok to save changes-click ok to exit.
Ok. Seems straight forward, except that the words Netowrk and Internet Connections' do not appear anywhere in control Panel in Vista, that I can see.
Anyone know where they are in Vosta Home Premium?
TIA.

You need to click Classic View from menu on left, once in Control Panel.

Or just Click Network and Internet in the Vista view, then Network and Sharing Centre and then Manage Network Connections in menu on the left. You'll then see your connection and you can follow the instructions as above

Thank you. My settings are as they should be and our Dial up connection is still uncertain (keeps disconnecting) and the speed is down to bytes per second rather than kb's. Everyone denies responsibility and says their part is working properly.
We cannot have Broadband either by line, cable or Dongle so stuck with it.
