With all the no doubt wonderful and exciting changes in the pipeline, how about introducing a way of letting us know someone has actually read the emails sent to you?

Soz legend , what was I thinking, using the Suggestions Topic to make a suggestion.

Why is the suggestion "maybe unrealistic stupid and a waste of time?"

Why do they send an e-mail telling us there's a reply to a question? Why not just click on Profile and check through that instead? The notifications are hours sometimes a day late anyway so what's the point?

If I send an e-mail to someone, I'd like to think it's looked at rather than deleted immediately.
Hi TCL,
I DO agree.
Why can't AB ED have an automated tesponse, saying for instance "AB Ed has received and read your EMail"
At least we would know that they HAD been read, and not dumped into AB Ed's Spam Folder (that's where I get the idea they go).
You get this sort of response from some companies that you EMail.
They don't, Mr. V. The Ed reads all the emails, but if you've ever worked in such an environment, you'll appreciate that he has hundreds of them to wade through.
An automated response seems like a decent idea, but the Ed DOES thank people on his blog. His job's a lot more than just replying to folk though, and he doesn't like it when folk write in, naming names of various ABers for various reasons. I DO think that an automated em might go down well though.

It's not a case of thanking folk on his blog, it's acknowledging the fact that someone has taken the time to e-mail him about something. Why is it folk keep saying it's been yonks since they've had a reply when others say they have no probs?

He has said he spends two hours a day replying to e-mails and he has also said "I handle certain aspects of PR, management of content on other websites etc!" perhaps there needs to be a review on prioriities?
that sounds like he has reviewed his priorities, as they are not the priorities his predecessors have chosen, or the ones I would choose.
When I first joined the Ed was on long term sick, and no one knew, so you can hardly say it was the epitome of good communication.

Mumping, this is just a variation on a theme. You aint getting anywhere mate, Just give it a rest and concentrate on you excellent contributions on other topics.

And before I get the barrage of counter claims, I am not a stooge, (paid or otherwise) of the Ed nor am I a Legend suckup

I just wish the site would worked properly and the "Profile" get fixed, don't need all the bells and whistles!!
