Why are some threads removed / transferred to B&S, but other tthreads are allowed to stay on AB Suggestions?

How is anyone meant to know where to post such threads?

Exactly - mine was moved to B&S and I didn't know for two days, not quite the spirit is it????
why should there be birthday threds on a question/answer site anyway?
Because whether you like it or not bednobs AB has developed into a community.....yes it's primarily a Q&A site, but you yourself have wandered off into 'chatty' mode every now and then. It's natural that many of us have further developed this into friendship (albeit cyberly!) and want to wish each other well on our birthdays.

PS

It's Mini Boo's birthday today- happy 2nd birthday !!!
boo surely this could be posted on a site specifically for greetings.
Surely what could?

Birthday greetings???

How are they anymore irrelevant to the site than what you had for lunch today, or how drunk you are on a weekend which is what's on B&S alot lately anyway??
i couldnt agree more , is it any wonder some abers dont visit B S anymore ,
well said BOO (as always!) a very Happy birthday miniboo!

I, for one, have had more birthdays than I'm going to have (unless I live to be 196) so I enjoy all the greetings lol!
I like the Birthday threads. I think it gives the site a cyber soul. :-)
if you are cyber friends, then surely it would make sense to email each other then?
Most of us don't wish to post our email addresses on here bednobs so that's out the question.

Oddly enough I've noticed you haven't answered the other points...namely that despite it being a Q&A site, you yourself have (God forbid) been chatty on threads.....is this not against your own principles?

At the end of the day we are obviously not going to agree on this subject, and I really can't be bothered to fall out with you over it :-) However I genuinely fail to see how birthday greetings are anyway more detrimental to the site than say your fave sexual positions, what you had for tea, whether you like sprouts or not or whether you prefer Catherine Tate to Little Britain (and no, I'm not getting at the people who asked those questions either)
a certain amount of chatting on threads is permitted by the ed, to allow for natural discusion/different viewpoints on the answer to a question. As far as i can recall, all the questions i've asked have been that : questions, where as "happy birthday whoever" isnt a question, in my opinion.
Those examples you've given are questions that people wanted to know the answers to, therefore is what this site is for.
Ok, we will have to agree to disagree, but for me, its all about the questions and answers, and if i wanted a chat room, i go to a chatroom
your chatting bednob...tut tut...!(:O)
Happy 2nd Birthday to miniboo, only seems like 2yrs ago that you were born!!!

bednobs if you don't like birthday greetings, then don't go into them, simple as that.
im not saying i dont like them, im saying they shouldn't be here anyway!
Hello prospector

Excuse me while I wish babyB00 a sweet and happy birthday xxx((((*.*))))xxx

How come some on here don't think there should be birthday wishes, yet fawn, chat, pass the time of day etc etc with each other on other peeps threads, without an apology to the author? There are 3 guilty of this, and YES crete you are one of them, yet you are always there on every thread going against the grain, putting the downers on peeps - what a hypocrite! But then you never could stand others enjoying the friendly banter, could you?

Apologies prospector the site has so many double standards, speak out, you get the thread removed...
i presume i'm included in your 3? :-)

i think there is a difference in chatting in threads to put your point across (just like i'm doing now) and starting threads that aren't questions, specifically to chat in. Obviously you dont feel the same, but wouldn't life be dull if we were all the same?
I like the birthday greeting's. They cause no harm. Happy birthday mini boo:-))
Question Author
My Question neither supported nor criticised Birthday threads .... but, queried the seemingly inconsistent approach from the Editorial team ..... resulting in some 'confused' ABers (well demonstrated by the Answers above to this thread).

Over the last 72 hours, 3 Birthday Threads were initiated on AB Suggestions .......

The Last Thread is 'transferred' to B&S - an action by the Editorial team. The first two threads remain on AB Suggestions.

Why, the different editorial action ...... different Ed's on duty?

{By the way - how do some ABers know when it is someone's Birthday .... can you find out through the Site?}
I know exactly to what you were referring prospector and heartily agree with you.
