I just replied to a question and because I accidently submitted my post twice it came up immediately that my answer ..or one of them (the same one repeated ) was banned.I am not all that technologically minded and it was a genuine mistake on my part .Do we have to write out a hundred lines or what ? Drivel and abuse is allowed and genuine mistakes banned ...Hmmmm ?And don't tell me it bunged up a page because it was contained in one thread.

it is the automatic thing the site does isn't it? only one should have a pink bar across it in your profile probably. Don't do it again or you will be on the naughty step until the morrow. : )))

Well it's a pity they don't apply this policy across the board then. An innocent mistake is banned while people can be abusive to others and that is left to stand.Strange how everything is automatic when the staff have left the building.
Question Author
Plus ..I have seen other posts in various threads and categories that have accidentally been submitted twice and they haven't been banned so why pick on me?
Don't worry shaneystar2, you're not the only one, it happened to me last week. What I object to is when you see it in your 'Questions I have answered' it is described as BANNED! Why not simply call it REMOVED?

And it wasn't even my fault. I am still on dial-up and restricted to 2hrs at a time. I clicked submit and got the re-connection dialogue. After reconnection, the page hadn't refreshed and my reply was still on screen so I clicked submit again.

dot, I don't think it is automatic, too many duplicate answers and questions remain on screen. I think it depends upon other ABers reporting the duplicates.

Forget it, dinnae fash yersel'

Thanks gen2 ..it makes you feel as if you have made some horrendous misdeamour and been reported to the headmistress ! Oh well another black ..or should I say pink....mark on my school report .
Hi shaneystar2

Your original post is still there - unfortunately, the duplicate is still marked as "banned" in your profile. This is in the queue to get changed by the Heavies as it only creates confusion along the lines of:
Q: "Why was my question banned?"
A: "It wasn't. The original is still on the site - it was your duplicate that was removed."
Q: "Oh, okay, thanks."

Its an "automatic thing" as dot says - it does not effect your submission in any way. No one is picking on you. Deep breaths all around.
I dunno, you'll probably get away with crucifixion. Could be worse though, you could be stabbed.

Of all the answers I have had 'banned' I think about 95% were 'banned' because they were duplicates. I survived the the wrath of the Ed, but still have the limp.
i did the same thing yesterday and am expecting my punishment to be decided today by the ed. i am really apprehensive .
I've mailed the ed to say your punishment should be to take away your microfibre dusters & lock you in the dungeon where you'll be subjected to Cliff tapes all day, & chs on tst would be paraded past your bars every hour.
Oh dear Lord, not the Cliff tapes.
this is too much im phoning the police.
Pssst..! shaney....if they stick you in the ole dungeon, are slip a nice long sausage in..through the bars .................oh and some rye bread hehe..(:o)
I've had 2 replies banned yesterday ;-(
Found one, which was slightly iffy admittedly, but I can't find the other.

We really do need a thingymejig on our profiles to tell us which one's were banned.

Oh well....I shall just have to get the Butler to crack open the last bottle of Gin ....he's already confiscated my microfibres and is hiding in the pantry singing "We're all going on a Summer Holiday".....doddery old fool !
well done shaney for getting a reply from the ed I have e mailed in the contact us section as to why a reply was banned I only asked esmerelda if the answer i gave was correct or helped as she had not replied or thanked me so I was interested if it was right, this was banned! As you say the drivel that does appear yet remains some are more than iffy Boo definately obscene yet are not banned. I notice pandabears compaints have dissapeared from here, wonder if has he been erased from existance?
jan
Erased from existence jan? I think he was incinerated!

Just a thought Jan....the one you got banned...it wasn't a duplicate was it? I mean you didn't hit 'submit' twice so one was removed?
Question Author
I have had crossword answers banned in the past too Jan ...
Poor old Pandabear was only wanting to know why his crossword answers were banned as well. None of them were duplicated as far as I could see and I really cannot see how a crossword answer can be banned .
Time for more gin I think !
rofl shaney, just for you..........

(The tonic water's optional.)
My reply was not a duplicate just a request to esmerelda to find out if the answer was any use to her, I think she is one of those who do not thank or reply to any answers given so I shall avoid answering her questions as she must have taken offence at being asked for a reply!
