big horrible, dirty buzzy things. how can i stop them flying into the house through my open windows? is there some oil or scent that they hate, that i could put on the window sill - i heard that maybe mint or eucalyptus may work? thanks.

I heard that if you have mint growing in pots on your window sill they dont like it. Have not tried it myself though.
Bead curtains can sometimes help.

We get them coming in through the conservatory at night (along with various other beasties), and find citronella candles work well. You can pick 'em up really cheap at Wilkinsons.

I think over the years, i've tried just about everything, the most effective, once they get in, (which they will), is the old fashioned Fly Swat.
