The system automatically stops answers that use obsceneties etc but is there any other kind of censorship. I am asking this because some threads contain some very scathing and rude replies. Does anyone from answerbank read the replies to ensure that any Abers who are continually offensive to others are stopped.

don't think so... it doesn't actually block answers with obscenities, just puts asterisks in the offending words. If you see something offensive you can bring it to the editor's attention by reporting it (via the report this answer panel). If it receives three or four reports it's automatically removed until the editor can have a look at it. If the same user posts a lot of offensive posts he may be banned permanently.
I suppose some people could argue calling the british "COLD" or changing their names to Ward-Monger may be offensive. In fact I think It is, but I don't cry about it nor report it.
No I agree with Wardy ( that's twice now what's going on????) We are habitually scathing with each other, as we have very differing viwepoints usually, but I respect him and hope he doesn't mind what I say because I certainly don't take personal offence at what he says about me. I think over sensitivity would ruin the site to be honest.
ditto Mr nox, you white trash commie bar steward. Only joking.
How you doing Ward Munter?....long time no hear
There is a disappointing lack of consistency when reviewing answers that have been banned or removed. Particularly when placed in the context of other similar answers or threads.
I have noticed on numerous occasions that a well written (inoffensive), thoughtful reply can disappear if it runs contrary to the popular view expressed, while an antagonistic and / or rude reply often remains.
Some removals (from personal experience) defy logic, and as the AB Ed will not engage in discussions as to the reason for removals, they forever defy explanation.

Some level of consistency please, and how about reinstating some of the contentious (but not offensive) answers to balance the arguments?
