He must think that's OK. Can anyone remind us of the basic tenets of fascism?

Franklin D Roosevelt said thus:-
"The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power."
'Fascism views political violence, war, and imperialism as a means to achieve national rejuvenation and asserts that "superior" nations and races should attain living space by displacing weak and inferior ones.'
That to me is racism or at least elements of it.
Even Wiki seems to have it right.
look no further than Stalin, or indeed that buffoon Mussolini,
yes sandy, I also struggled to work that one out
he seems a bit of a thug, or is that wrong...
one thing that Mr Di Canio has proved is that he is an idiot

Well said,Steve, the voice of reason at last.
He can believe anything, however once he voices some of his 'opinions' he runs the risk of acting illegally. Racism is an offence everwhere in Europe, and the 'Roman salute' gesture he is so happy to make is illegal and imprisonable in at least two countries. If he fancies 5 years in a German prison then I hope he enjoys it with his 'opinions' intact.

Nazi salute isn't amusing though is it, whether in jest or not.
i think he has 'little italian man' syndrome....
He was/is a Lazio ultra - the most fanatical of the fanatical, indeed when in his 2nd stint at Lazio - threw the "roman" salute to the Ultras on a number of occassions and is rumoured to have stood with them when not playing.

He has had rows everywhere he has been, I don't thnk hell last at Sunderland no matter what.

One thing about him, love or hate him, there is no doubt he is a man of principle.
Yes lcg - nasty little italian man

When that happens , racism will likely be intertwined with it .
i have read through that Gruaniad blog again, funnier and funnier,
