I know we don’t have a ‘Thread of the Week’, but I would like to nominate one. Chaptazbru’s question ‘What is the best book you have ever read by a male author and a female author?’, has produced one of the best threads I’ve ever seen in AB – full of information, good humour, and camaraderie. I’m really enjoying it, and I know others are too - so well done to Chaptazbru, and to all who are contributing to that thread.

I think thread of the week is an excellent idea.
But this week's winner would have to be the one about hiring a tube train for the day wouldn't it?
How will it be decided? Already we have a difference of opinion.
Question Author
Factor, that was so funny - really funny - but I think Chaptazbru's thread beat it simply because it is a perfect example of good ABing. (I made that last word up - not that you'd guess!). :o)
Question Author
Tilly, I'm not necessarily suggesting we have a 'Thread of the Week' - but this week, in my opinion, one in particular stood way above the rest - and I thought it deserved a mention. Credit where credit is due.
Sorry naomi, I misunderstood. I agree with you that chaptabruz's thread was a brilliant one. There were lots of 'oh yes' moments when other people mentioned books you'd forgotten about.
We need a list compiling. I wonder if anyone has the inclination, or the time, to put all the suggestions on to some kind of accessible link. That would be good.
Thanks Naomi, the thread has certainly take off hasn't it, and still going ! I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all the answers and being reminded of some excellent books, which I'd forgotten about.
Yeh, but whats the prize for winning thread of the week naomi.
Question Author
Tony, well, all credit to Chaptazbru - but in this particular instance all the participants are winners and it's the greatest prize of all - education. ;o)
OK then naomi, I will consider myself educated now.
There doesn't have to be a prize, it would just be a nice feeling being nominated, like being picked as Best Answer is ......
Question Author
Yes, thanks for that, Chaptazbru. Just thought that masterpiece from Charlotte Bronte was well worth sharing.
It certainly was naomi ..
The ed sometimes creates a sticky. Isn't that the equivalent?
I've often thought that my posts, with their gnomic wit and deep subtext of religiosity, don't get half the recognition that they deserve.
Having said that, I agree with Naomi's idea and her first nominated question.
Question Author
As I told Tilly earlier, I'm not necessarily suggesting we have a 'Thread of the Week' - but Chaptazbru's thread really impressed me as a perfect example of good 'ABing', and I wanted to acknowledge that - hence my post.
Then why put it in 'suggestions'?
Question Author
Zac, your usual amiable self, I see. ;o)
Think it's an excellent idea to recognize what a good thread this was (still is).

I'm not very active on Answerbank as I don't have a great deal of time to engage, though I do have a quick browse most days on many topics. As a result of not having very much of an online presence, there are often topics I'd like to join in with, but feel a bit excluded (I know you'll say that's not the case - but it can be offputting when everybody seems to know each other).

With this thread (and its sister thread) it was very easy to jump in without feeling awkward. And it jogged a lot of memories, too. Sheer pleasure
Question Author
Nodger, the people on this thread know you now, so don't feel excluded any more - just dive in. :o)
