Death is frequently sad, horrid and targic.
I just wish the Americans could learn to put more value on the sanctity of ALL life ... not just when they are outraged at having been attacked by their perceived "enemy".
As ichkeria says ... there are lots of tragedies.
In terms of visual impact, 9/11 was huge. In terms of the numbers who died, it was quite small (2,996), compared with, say ...
Civilian deaths in Afghanistan ... 9, 759 (and rising)
Civilian deaths in Iraq ... 150,000 (lowest estimate) - 1,000,000 (upper estimate)
If the US really want to commemorate tragic loss of life, they could have a day to commemorate those Americans killed by other American motorists (not just injured - killed) since 9/11, many of whose families have been left penniless. The number ... 480,000.
Parhaps instead of feeling like the victims of the World (while still trying to RUN the World), the day of commemoration should be extended, to recognize all people who have lose their lives as a result of conflict, or other people's thoughtlessness.
