I told you all some time about having hedgehog - now I have been speaking to my neighbours and we have a loads more walking around the streets - my neighbours have seen them wandering from garden to garden. Now I am afraid of them and when another one came back to my garden my dog goes frantic again. I looked up pest control and they wont touch large than rats, mice etc. What is next?

they will surround your house and picket you :-)

Why are you afraid of them, hedgehogs are cute surely?
They are not pests....
wish we had them, not seen one for a few years near me
Why are you afraid of them, poor things are more afraid of us and rightly so. They aren't pests so should never be treated as such. Just leave them alone and they don't usually stay, as you said, they've been seen walking around the streets...obviously looking for food, so they shouldn't stay in your garden particulalry IMO. They are lovely creatures, I hope you do grow to tolerate them for their sakes.
When they start walking around the streets swigging super-strength lager and bullying small kids, then I would worry.........

for the attention of yous all - it is not that - it when my dog frantically barks under the shed for hours when I have to go out - my dog is going to see the dog warden again if he keeps up.

daisy what does IMO mean
I rather think you'll have to find some other place to keep your dog when you go out........
imo or in my opinion
Conne...IMO = in my opinion. Oh and I agree with JtH....please can you find another place (preferably indoors) for your dog when you're out...IMO it's not fair on any dog to shut it in the garden when the owner decides they have to go out....sigh
Watch out for spiney Norman.

Oh and forgot to say....btw = by the way.....your dog can catch fleas from the hedgehog(s) if in their vicinity so again not an ideal place for your dog to be left out when you have hedgehogs methinks.

When you dog barks it's warning you of an intruder. Train your dog to stop by saying "quiet" in a stern voice; that works with my dogs.
can;t you keep the dog in when the hedgies are about?
aren't they nocturnal anyway?
Yes bednobs they are nocturnal, makes you wonder why they are about in the daytime if they are seen then.

When I have to go for appointments I let him out - why should I lock him inside the dark house when he could be out getting fresh air in my garden - also if he needs to relieve himself he should be able to do it as freely as wants - he was there first. No, locking him inside the house would be cruel - but this is would be great for the hedgehog - the whole neighbourhood apparently are swarmed with them - now that is worrying.
i think they are a strain of ninja hedgehogs and are moving in on conne's neighbourhood and planning on a takeover
