What is the common and latin names of a typical looking barnacle. For example, the one that has the spiriling shell, like how you would draw a cartoon one, if that makes any sense?

Did you mean the spiralling shell? Barnacles have plate shells. Periwinkles (blue-black) and dog whelks (white) that you commonly see on rocks at the seaside have spiral shells.
One is the Acorn Barnacle, Latin name Balanus cariosus
