The shop stuff is useless. See your vet for Frontline or similar - expensive but effective.
you can buy frontline pack of 3 pipettes not that expensive if you think of all the pet shop stuff you have prob already bought .its around 21 each pack , 1pipette last 2 months in dogs so one pack last 6 months not bad really.
hi ya i have had that trouble and i used lemongrass essential oil diluted with water and rubbed into the coat , if you use 4 drops to 20ml i found it was good and he smelled nice
Johnson's 4fleas is excellent for killing fleas on your pet....and not too expensive. As for round the house, fleas need damp warm conditions for their eggs to thrive......sprinkling salt on carpets dries out moisture and kills the eggs...then to be sure spray a flea killer....shouldn't cost you more than 20!
hope this helps

Frontline from your vet ..they do a spray for the dog or the pipettes and also a spray for the house.
Not cheap but it is the most effective .By the time you have payed out for other stuff it works out the same in the long run.

Thankz, i'm probably sounding like a mad woman, but cant believe after all these years we now got the blighters!I'm really paranoid,ta for replies!
Don't wast your time and money on all this stuff you get from vets and pet shops, IT DONT WORK!! if you have fleas in the house, pay for a pest control company to come in and do it properly, I have spent 13 years treating houses for fleas where people have already spent a fortune on these products.
The main advantage with a pest control company is it will usually be guaranteed, so if the treatment fails it will be re-treated again for free.
Its so much cheaper in the long run I promise!! when the stuff from the vets fail, are they going to give you the next batch free!!

The stuff we use is obviously stronger than the stuff the vet sells, we will spray usually 5 litres + on a 3 bed house, The vet is going to sell you a half litre aerosol can, despite what it says on the can, it is not enough to treat one small room!!

How much on average though ratter,i'm talking s?
I charge 75.00 for a typical 3 bed house with full guarantee
Question Author
Bl00dy hell ratter, fleas cost more than the damn dogs to feed a month!Better be good for that,i'll have to find someone close by then if i'm gonna go down that route!
I definatly agree with Big Gill get frontline. I doesn't kill the fleas but it turns them sterile so they cant make baby fleas. Works really well

If you decide on buying Frontline try this website:
http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=ind ex&cPath=3&zenid=245aa78ccd4bdb0d9962ba6ca7723 035
I ordered 6 vials of Frontline (over a years supply) for my cat on the Friday and they were delivered the next morning - post & packing free. Much cheaper than going to the vet.
I agree that frontline is excellent on pets but doesnt work when treating the house, but when treating the house the pets must be treated as well!!
The Frontline spray does kill the fleas, its the spot on stuff that only prevents them from hatching out.
Question Author
Is frontline gonna be worth it then?
I use Frontline regularly on my 2 cats, it's the best stuff on the market and is effective straight away, you do need to use it every 5/6 weeks though.
