During my daily bird watching session in my garden, noticed the bluetits were behaving differently, instead of coming to the feeders, they was making short sallies from a nearby tree.
After some time it became apparent that they were catching flying ants in mid-air.
I've never seen them do that before.

Just an interesting observation.

I've never seen that either. They go round under the overhang of our windows and shed roof, I assume looking for spiders. I thought ants tasted horrible!
chipcopper never seen that before, but flying ants were starting to fly last week.
Bluetits eat ants ?!
Blimey, I'd ask how I could get bluetits but I am concerned about the responses I'd get.
