Ive been looking on go-compare to see what is the best offer and there are plenty but, has anybody had any problems with insurance company's not wanting to pay out for operations and treatment?.

I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm only on a pension but I want my pup to have a good and healthy life after what she went through in the first 6 weeks of her life.

I have used M&S before and they were very good.. and also direct line too I think...
Am with More Than now.. who give you 20% discount in first year....
Be sure to look at the excesses... and limits of cover for one illness....
Also - would the animal get cared for if you happened to fall ill... would those costs be covered

Good luck!
Morethan. But all of them are a bit of rip off in my opinion. I keep one going for the dog because she is accident prone! Prices rise sharply when the animals get older and their needs are greater.

Thanks Nosha and lofty,

Just come of the phone to Morethan and they want £114.00 per annum which gives me £3,000 a year for treatment etc.
Dont think I need to have her looked after if in hospital etc, family will take care of that.
Pet Plan. Not the cheapest but excellent cover and no quibbling.
I had Petplan before Morethan Woofy. Never had a problem with payouts from Morethan. I stopped insurance on our elderly dog when he got towards the end of his days. It became cheaper for me to buy his regular drugs than actually to insure him and I knew if he became really very ill, at 14 years old I would not be unkind enough to put him through any expensive procedures. Have stopped with the cat now at 10 years old as well. But Meggie, as I said, is somewhat accident prone so I will continue to insure her.
I never wanted insurance cover for replacement if dog got stolen. I just wouldn't and couldn't replace her. Also I know my son would take on both dog and cat if necessary.
I had tescos when I had cats a few years back I think. They were good from what I recall.
Tescos, I believe, have a good offer on at the moment.
My dog is with More Than..............
E & L, and Dog Breeders insurance have a bad reputation. I am with Pet Plan, nearly £300 a year per dog, but never had a problem with them, and loathed to change now.
Make sure the cover is enough for a big vets bill, my friend has one at present - over £4,000 and the insurance cover is only up to £2,500 for any one incident. Also check that they will accept your pup if she has been ill or whatever happened to her, as if she has had an illness that may not be covered. I believe Saga do a pet insurance, might be worth checking out.

She hasn't had an illness lankeela, she was rescued from a travelers site by the RSPCA when she was 5 weeks as she had two dummy teats stuck in her intestine through neglect. She is fine now after an op to remove them.
Wicked, such a shame. Probably ate them because she was hungry and they tasted of food. Hope she has a lovely long life with you.
I did have Tesco's insurance for my two but I've switched to More Than as its cheaper per month. My cats or over 10 and its getting more and more expensive each year but I wouldn't go without it.
trt, some of your local vet's may offer their own insurance - mine does & it's very reasonsable. The big advantage is that you don't have to pay up & then claim it back.

Thanks Messalina, have to take her to vets next week for her injections, so will ask.
I used to have my dog insured with Saga, but not anymore. He had a few problems in the first couple of years of his life with his skin and eyes and I had to claim. After that each year they put up my insurance premium quite considerably. You have to decide whether you want to take out a policy that would cover him if you claim in the first year but not thereafter for the same ailment or if you want a policy which covers him for all of his life for one ailment. If the latter the premiums are very high. I think it is a complete ripoff and would not bother again. I never had any of my other dogs insured and this was the first one. Overall with the premiums and for what I claimed, think I broke even. Now put money away each month, but he has been fine since.
Tesco, - ring 'em
I have shar peis and the premiums are ridiculous, we put all our spare change in a jar and then add to it for vet bills, when we did have pet insurance for or first one we never claimed on it once.
