Where do squirrels make their nests and do they hibernate - if so when?

I'm not an expert, so I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong her, but as far as I know, they nest in trees (the nests are called dreys), and they are considered to 'hibernate' during the winter months although it's not a true deep hibernation like bears and tortoises do; sometimes you see them on mild days.

They certainly don't hibernate around here Amber! They are always in our garden - spring, summer, autumn & winter. They can be a pain digging up bulbs, etc., but that's my fault for feeding them! They are so comical & I love watching their antics!

They actually nest in the Churchyard trees, near our house.

I've just been watching one playing & rolling around on our lawn with a ball - !
they enter a dormant state which is kind of hibernating but can be awakened easily
