Given the current problems with the volcanic ash-cloud from Iceland, would you consider driving to your holiday destination instead of flying?

I would always prefer to drive, volcanic ash or not. I don't like flying as I'm claustrophobic, so have only ever been on short flights, and after a few drinks of course.

When you've chanced flying in a small plane past the Angel Falls on a misty day, you'd risk anything!

We will be driving, as planned 7 months ago, to France.
Made a decision not to fly, for reasons other than the current ash cloud, although I do love flying.

I don't enjoy motorway travel, so flying is, for me, the lesser of two evils.

I actually don't enjoy flying, but not because of being scared. There is far more risk of going out in my car than flying, even considering volcano ash. I would far prefer to drive anywhere than go by air, but just think of the time flying saves

A family member who works in the travel industry told me that two planes landed with engine damage after the flying ban was lifted. Maybe it's a rumour but losing money will probably get airlines flying asap.

Its a long drive to Cyprus so I'm risking flying tomorrow :)

I'm of to the Azores next week (maybe !) Which are 800 miles of the coast of Portugal in the middle of the Atlantic so I think driving there would be pretty difficult.

Spain has just now closed 19 of its airports again, due to the ash cloud !

Blimey - 19 airports! It's amazing, but lots of cars around here (South Bedfordshire) suffered from the 'ash fallout' - have you noticed the same where you live in Spain?
