Don't know about that but they go all floppy if you feed them bromide.

Years ago my cousin told me that if you feed sea chickens soda bread the same thing happens.

It's an urban legend, seagulls will not explode when you feed them alka aeltzer any more than toilets flush one way one side of the equator compared to the other, or glass flows causing windows to thicken at the bottom in old buildings.
