My Daughter has found a birds egg that has fallen from a nest, she would like to take it to school to put on the interesting table and I would like to find out what bird type it could be from. The egg is white with no markings and is about 20mm long and 10mm wide. Any feedback much appreciated.

Am guessing it's a garden bird. Most common garden birds have speckled eggs or are coloured shades of blue. I'd say a collared dove.

Was the egg from a nesting box, a bush or a tree?
Probably a pigeon. Was it a whole egg or more than half a shell? The pigeon will drop eggshells a long way from the nest to deter predators.
