Don't get me wrong, I am not condemming piercings or those who have them, but when I really think about them I actually feel sick and slightly faint and my knees buckle at the thought of punching holes through the skin.  Am I alone?

I feel the same - regardless of the fact that I would never look less than stupid with a piercing of any kind. I gather that it's a partly sexual, partly tribal thing, and I am a great believer in people treating their bodies as they see fit, it's just not for me.

Posted in the wrong section, didn't I.  Never mind, I will leave it here and see if the editor moves it, rather than post it again/
I had my ears pierced at 21, and that was bad enough!! The thought of have other body parts done gives me the shivers!! ugh!!
Unless you mean animal piercings Fakeplastic? My cat looks fab with his earrings in .................... (I am of course joking, before the animal rights activists set me alight - my cat is very well loved and cared for) Anyway, about the peircings, apart from my ears I don't have any anymore but as a teenager I had quite a few. I don't ever regret getting them done, but I do feel it has a lot to do with teenage rebellion and peer pressue - having to be the first to have something. It would start with a few extra holes in the ear and then someone would have their nose done, then euebrow, tongue, etc etc. Kind of rambling now but I'm bored.
I am 39and pierced my nose and ear in school assembly at 12 years old 1977. I still have them pierced and have added 9 other ear placements incl tragus, rook, diath, lobes, top and only had conch pierced last month, 2 extra nosrtil piercings, lip, tongue, nipple, and 3 genital piercings: prince albert, ampallang and frenum
Lovely :) Do you jingles when you dance? Ok, so it's not teenage angst.

I've now got very trembling knees and definitely feel very sick.........  As I said I'm not condemming piercings, it's just the way they affect me.

Dave, is there anything that isn't pierced.  And I don't know what half the piercings you have mean??

Natalie,  LOL re your cat - set my imagination off, was sort of thinking of Garfield with earings and a tail piercing.
i dont have my septum pierced (the bit in middle of nose) or my naval. You will have to do a google image search to see those piercings. I mainly have discreet studs and rings in mine, been in some piercing mags too. and in reply to natalie, yes i have been known to jingle!!!
I have  my belly button and my nose pierced which i got done in my late twenties dont see a problem myself, each to ther own.

Dragonfly, as I said I don't think there's anything wrong with piercings they just make me feel queezy.
I'm with you fakeplastic but I also feel strange when I see tattoos.  I don't have any objections to people having them or piercings they just make me feel strange.  My mother would never allow me to wear earrings of any kind although she wasn't strict in other ways.  Case of nature/nurture I guess.

Each to their own, but personally I don't like piercings. The only piercings I have are on my earlobes and I had no choice in the matter. My mum took me and got it done when I was a newborn. I think for a girl its important to have earrings, other than that I shudder at piercings, especially the ones on the nose and the cartilage part of the ear - that must really hurt piercing through bone.
