New to this, is it normal for our cocker spaniel puppy whilst in the crate to claw her box (we have newspaper at the bottom which she is ripping it to shreds... She is not in there too long (so I don't think its boredom)... Thanks in advance :)

my dog does this to his corner he sleeps in clawing the carpet, maybe the claws need clipping also spray some citronella oil down this deters my dog
Please...dont keep pup in crate unless for travel.....the pup needs ur company.

Keep pup in room with washable floor and some old shoes to chew, when you want it away from you. Keep newspapers on floor to sop up.
Hey xwordmad,

My puppy Cleo digs up her bed, and its not in a crate but a blanket in the front room! She also does this to her bed which is on the floor next to my bed.

Not sure why she does it mind you!
Hi xwordmad! My pup also digs up his bedding, (again not in a crate - just in lounge and bedroom) trawls the blankets, beds etc around the rooms, till they are a crumpled heap...... Then he lies on the crumpled heap happy as anything and sends up the zzzz's!!! I don't know why either !!!! :o)
Ps: he is also a cocker spaniel.
Strangely enough my Cleo is half American cocker spaniel!!

We seem to have a trend going here!
Hi my dogs a mongrel and he does it too, he tries to 'dig' in the footwell of the car and in his plastic bed! dont know why they do it but i wouldnt worry to much. Perhaps try distracting him with a chew or toy?
