My little chiuahua Jack russell cross has had an umbilical hernia all her life, she is now 7 years old and as happy and healthy as any other wee doggy..your vet will ckeck it out when you take your puppy for his jags etc but please do not worry too much.my vet suggested that he could repair the hernia however it would simply be a cosmetic op.
Lucky you...I'd love to have a puppy again..
My sons dog has one, and it hasnt been a problem. Most small hernias will close before a dog reaches maturity anyway, and it is only in b!tches that surgery is sometimes required. Ask the vet to check it out on first visit, he will tell you what to look for in the future to ensure there are no problems. Good luck with your pooopie.
