There are some wild rabbits opposite my house which come out early in the morning and in the evening. A few are the usual brown/grey type colour but there are some that are black and white. Do you get black and white wild rabbits or has someone released a few pet rabbits?

There are some black and white rabbits beside where I work, they're released/escaped pets, maybe even their offspring.
red if they are really wild !

On Saturday. on the way to work crossing the Quantock Hills in the middle of nowhere, so not likely an escaped pet, a jet black bunny ran out in front of me. I desparatley didn't want to kill it , but neither did I want the BMW 2 feet off my exhaust pipe to ram me. The stupid bunny zig zagged back and forth for hundreds of yards and I hope it escaped. I did wonder if it could be wild.
Wild? I bet it was furious :-)
Of course its not unknown for caring(!) people to let their pet rabbits out in the country if they don't want them any more.
I regularly see two white rabbits on the side of the main road into Fakenham and there are some black ones around here too. Although some won't make it, I am sure many pet ones will adapt to living wild if they don't get eaten by Mr Fox. They can of course breed with the wild rabbits, and their offspring could be any colour.
caj1 do you live near my hometown (bangor)??? all the rabbits around there are now black! i presume someone has released some black pet rabbits and now they have bred mith the native ones! all countryside rabbits should be a brown/grey colour.
