Cat with ear polyps

I've got a cat here with very extensive ear polyps. They aren't causing any problems at the moment, but I'd like to know if anyone has had a cat with ear polyps. After surgery did the polyps return? how bad is the surgery? How did the cat do?
I've got the Vets opinion, but I'd like to hear of any experiences from anybody out there.
