i have a four month old kitten every time i lay on my back in bed my kitten finds a spot on my chest to suck on. he was seperated from his mother at 2 months and turned in to an animal shelter where we adopted kim. does anyone know why he does this? we love our kitty with all of our hearts but this is very annoying. we put him down and he jumps right back up.

I don't think it's very good for your kitten to suck your spots. Please be a more responsible pet owner.
Maybe peanut doesn't mean a spot as in 'zit'. Perhaps he/she means a 'place' as in spot! Poor little kitten, he is looking for comforting & just needs lots of love & cuddles. P.S. Some children suck on comfort blankets, so perhaps you could give him a piece of your clothing to use as his own one.
I agree with smudge, peanut, and like smudge I didn't think you meant spot such as zit. Be prepared for your kitten to continue to do this until his dotage. Cats who are separated from their mother too early often adopt this habit for life! One of my rescue cats sucks my hair at every opportunity.
I have a 2 yr old cat who does this still lol. Perhaps it is the material of your clothing that is enticing her ... my cat LOVES baby blankets and will suck for hours on end. IS she so much as spots one she id there quick as a flash! Check out your local charity shops and get her one, it will stop her from climbing on you all the time and also provide her with the much needed comfort of what she thinks is her mother. Hope this helps. xxxx
I don't imagine Apricot meant zits either - she has a distinct sense of humour I have found! :)
Hes just suckling - when I got my baby kitty he was seperated at 6 weeks and I had to sleep with him on my chest for weeks suckling. Its comforting for him. Ahhh bless... they are so sweet when they a little.

thank you all for the advice
because he loves you, lol. My cat who is female does the same thing but she doesnt bite my chest, she bites my toes (and, im very tickilish, so imagine how I feel) I guess its normal cat behavior.
Well maybe because the cat was taken away so young he needs a nipple to suck on and maybe he tryes finding on on your chest and thats why he sucks
the kitten wasnt wheened from his mother properly, and when provoked by being pet or comforted they feel as they did when they were suckling from their mother, which provokes them to suckle. I had a few cats that continued this throughout their lives.
