Question Author
No, Ray, I just found it on the web!

Your pictures are just beautiful - a lovely area to live in. Quite honestly I think all the British Countryside is beautiful and we are so lucky to get such diversity in such a small area.

I have just looked for all the views I have taken over the last few years and have lost them from my computer. The air is blue!

I will take some photos of the area I live and post them on here shortly.

Hi Loffty Lottie, that pic really is brilliant, That is such a shame about your pics, I hope they are in there somewhere so you can get them back, good luck with it,and you are so right Britain is just so beautiful every area has something superb and different to anywhere else, I will never get tired of where I live, the one I took of the field is the view from my garden, the others about a minutes walk away, I really do hope we can keep this sort of thing going, and others can post pics of near where they live, speak later, have lovely evening, Ray
Hi nature lovers - not much happening here, it's been damp and grey. Great pics everyone ! My son has got some amazing wildlife photos, I'm not too good at posting them but will learn!
Keep posting all of you !
Lottie, that is so funny. I don't think I will ever live that down now, will I?

Ray, North Wales looks wonderful. My son certainly thinks so. He goes to Snowdonia, jumping off mountain ledges - or something like that and also takes wonderful photos.

Cold and miserable here today and it has just started to rain, yuk!
Hi all!
It's been drizzling all day and I've been at the Devon County Show . It was good to see lots of people around the Barn Owl Trust, Devon Wildlife and other conservation displays.

Yesterday at about 8.30 pm my son spotted a Little Owl while we were coming back from the supermarket perched right at the top of a tree. We have some breeding in the area, they are soi cute!
Bye for now!
ive really enjoyed reading this thread. ive not access to a computer thru the week and have been following everyones tales from the gardens on my phone. id like to join in if i may and tell you tales from my mums big walled garden which is a haven to many a blackbird and starling. she also has a resident wood pigeon who brings his mate to eat the food put out for the birds, one will sit on the bird table and shakes the seed feeder so the one below can get his/her share. at the moment mrs woody is missing, i hope because shes sitting on a nest somewhere, and the other day mr woody was squaring up to another woody wings raised like fists and giving each other a right duffing up. oh and yes i talk to the birds apologising if i disturb them off the bird table and to the plants asking them to grow especially my clematis which has made it thru the winter and is now going to flower...yipee.
Hi madaboutcats that's great about the wood pigeons and we all seem to talk to the animals, phew thank goodness it's not just me!
Seems to be clearing up weather wise.
The blackbird song (and others) is incredible in our garden. I like to think the birds are saying thanks for all the food we put out every day of the year.

More news as it happens - watch this space!
yes i love the bird song they all sound so happy to be alive.
i posted a query earlier today about bird noises that no one answered yet and from reading this thread i see someone has woodpeckers in garden and i would love to know what noise they make as i think there is one nearby my mums, it sounds like a rattle being shaken.
Hi again

Try the RSPB site which gives calls and songs- search for Lesser Spotted or Great Spotted Woodpecker

http://www.rspb.org.uk

Should think it is a woodpecker
thanks for that yogasun thats the fella great spotted woodpecker, i cant say ive ever heard one in the area before lets hope i see him in the garden as hes in the trees nearby, maybe the blackies can let him in on the secret of all the bird feeders in my mums garden.
Hello Cetti if you are around. You asked me to let you know about the Snowy Owl. Mr. yogasun has just texted my son to say that he has seen it - sorry that your friend can't :-(
Hi all, good to see somebody else joining in with this thread, not much happening up here in North Wales, it has been drizzling on and off all day,, Cetti I live in snowdia national park, so if you ever come up here, give me a yell, be good to met up for a chat and coffee.

we have woodpeckers, they amuse me, sounds like a hammer drill, especially when he is on the top of telegraph pole with metal top, what a dope, last year they were so funny when the chick grew he came to the tree with peanuts on, and mum was feeding him he was so lazy, she was doing this for weeks, he was bigger than mum and looked so silly throwing a tantrum because the food supply wasn't quick enough
in the end mum got fed up with him and flew off, it was only then the big lump made an effort to feed himself,, got to be so still when they are about they seem to me to be the most timid bird we have.

speak to you all soon, have good evening and sunday everybody, Ray xx
