My male cat 8 yrs old, neutered, has disappeared in the past several times but always came back. Once he disappeared for one year. He was born in the house, lots of love and everything. We have his mother as well and a Westie dog. He gets on well with the dog but i have noticed not as much as with his mother. Or more the other way round, she's not too keen on him. Is there anything such as cat-kidnapp? My theoy is that he must have been locked my some old dear etc etc. Basically we have just moved to a new house. I know I should all keep them in for at least a month before being allow outside. My question is: will he run away again, how do I trust he will not disappear ? Will he want to find a new home? By the way they are all settling well in the new house, lots of space.

There's a saying - a dog will give you lifelong love and affection, a cat will take a message and get back to you. Cats are just not as loyal as dogs, their loyalty is certainly not in proportion to the love you give them, as you have discovered. Your cat may simply be a nomad, fond of a change of scene, and may simply prefer the food and atmosphere at someone else's house, before moseying back home to see if things have changed or not. There's not a lot you can do about that - just love him the way you always have, and hope that he stays with you. Good luck.

Thank you andy hughes
You are most welcome.
I once worked with an animal communicator who explained that animals both dogs and cats leave sometimes because they are needed some place else for more important reasons / for a time being, sometimes forever and sometimes for periods of time. If you had someone that could commuicate/speak with your cat they might be able to tell you it's journey(s) and that is IF they want you to know. This same communicator once told me her cat had gone for about 4-5 months and then returned. The cat said she her she went to live with a child dying with cancer, after the child had died she flet her job was done and she returned home? I think that it was a very easy explaination and good reason to go ? dont you?
