Some never grow out of it, depends on the reason. If they are lacking something in their diet they sometimes do it, also if the food they are eating is not being digested properly it is still tempting to them. One thing that apparently helps is to give them pineapple, although how you get them to eat it is beyond me. Best cure is to get to it before they can eat it. Someone also suggested putting pepper or chilli powder on a pile of poo and see if that puts them off. Apart from being disgusting, it doesn't really harm them.
My puppy, well he is 11 months old now, will do it given the chance, but not his own, he prefers one of the others bitches, dont know what she has that he doesnt!! I always remove the offending poo as soon as I see it, but if he does eat it, he is usually sick half an hour later......never had this problem before with any dog, and although I have heard it could be that they are generally lacking something, he is fed the same food as all the other dogs.
