one of my goldfish has started to get wot looks like blood on its scales, well it might be on its scales but its not blood comin from the fish itself if that makes sense.
can anyone shed any light as to wot this may be and why!

Red spots or streaks on the skin are a sign of damage. The possible causes are many. Damage to the skin can happen through normal breeding activity, rough handling or as a response to something in the enviroment.
Check your water quality & correct any problems. Make sure you use a good de-chlorinator & allow the water to reach room temperature.
Watch out for other symptoms like 'flicking' or 'scratching' against objects/ gravel which may indicate a parasite burden that needs treatment.
The red marks may be infected with bacteria which also needs treatment. Use a (aquarium) salt bath ( 50% water change then make a solution of 0.3% - 0.6%)
or use API's Melafix (based on tea tree oil). good luck.
