It is seemingly a sign of trust. They show you that they trust you with a vulnerable area - ie away from the teeth and claws.

It is indeeed a sign of trust, and submission. You should regard it as a compliment. Chimpanzees do it too, for the same reasons.

because cats are evil...and they know it..this is just a screwed up joke on humans
