This is something that's been bugging me for ages! What is the purpose of wasps?! Every living organism on the planet has some sort of purpose, but I can't think of a single one for wasps other than being evil annoying little swines that ruin a lovely summer's day in the beer garden of the local pub!!!!

Although I can't say I'm a great fan!
Why should they have to have a purpose?

What is the purpose of Man!!! apart from killing everything on this planet!!

Have to agree with Ratter everything is here for a reason but if we dont understand it we kill it !
They also pollinate plants in the same way bees do, although not as efficiently.

The do capture caterpillars and spiders to feed their larvae with, so they are a form of pest control too.

A few of the tropical wasp species are the only insect that pollinate some flowers, mostly orchids. These orchids' flowers look deceivingly like a female wasp.
The purpose of every living thing is to exist as a link in the chain of evolution. There are many things we humans do not understand, this doesn't mean they are not important.
Wasps are scavengers of the insect world. They provide food for spiders and other creatures, pollinate flowers and eat up fallen fruit.
