Do squirrels build nest in trees and what do the nests look like?

Yes, they are known as 'Dreys'
They look like a large bunch of dead leaves. Summer dreys are further out on the branches, winter dreys are closer to the trunk, sometimes inside if the tree is hollow, both are usually high up.
