I am due to bring a Yorkshire Terrier into my home, I have been told that the best way to feed any dog is by using dry food, the beeders of my puppy have been feeding him canned meat due to the parents always eating this food. What is THE BEST dry food for dogs and can I get it for a puppy? I have been told Imas is top draw but any help is appreciated! Ta

I give my puppy scrambled egg in the morning and Bakers Puppy for lunch and dinner.

When she reached 3 months I fed her eggs with ham in the morning and then Bakers Puppy and Pedigree Chum puppy sachets for dinner.

Thanks for that!
I have also read that Eukanuba for puppy and junior is very good and also a brnad by Royal Canin specificaly for the Yorkshire Terrier?
I am in the US and don't know if you can get Natural Balance. It is excellent dry food. They have wet and a log also, but my stepdaughter has a Yorkie and the vet said they are notorious for dental problems, so no wet food. Hers is 14 months and has had three teeth pulled already.
in my opinion complete food is better as it gives them all the nutrients etc that they need.
Ally 3 of my dogs are on complete food and you can get so many different kinds, mine like complete with maize and castor oile for their coats.
Go to your pet shop and have a look at their dry complete foods and see what they have to offer.
Iams and Eukanuba are made by the same company and both have Puppy varieties. They make it in small pieces and it has a higher protein level which growing pups need. If the pup has been used to tinned meat, you may have a bit of a problem introducing the dry food, you should use a small amount of dry and gradually increase it. It won't hurt to always feed a bit of meat with the dry. My small dogs have a scoop of dry and about a tablespoonful of tinned meat which I stir in to give the dry food a bit of meaty flavour, although they will eat it dry, as a pathetic human I feel the need to give them something extra!

One thing I would say, with any small toy breed, feed little and very often, as they can suffer from low blood sugar if they don't get a regular intake of food.

Please avoid human food as it can often contain too much salt or sugar.
