Can anyone tell me what the correct name for a sausage dog is, and what the name is of the breed of pig that never grows much bigger than the size of a piglet?

Thanks for any help!

PS - are sausage dogs easy to come across in the uk? Never really see many of them around.

Sausage dogs are called Dachsund Hounds. Try the Kennel Club website - you should be able to find registered breeders of them on there.

No idea about the pig I'm afraid.
Sausage dog = Daschund

Piggies = Royal Dandie
'Sausage' dogs are Dachshunds. They come in two sizes, one is just called Dachshunds (although they are often wrongly referred to as Standard Dachshunds) and the other is called Miniature Dachshunds. Miniatures must ideally weigh no more than 11 pounds in the showring. They come in three coat types, Smoothhaired, Longhaired and Wirehaired, so there are six varieties altogether.

They were originally bred to hunt badgers, which is why they have short legs with turned out front legs, to turf the earth out of the way when digging into a badger set.

There are many varieties of miniature pigs, Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs are not as big as some 'farmyard' varieties and are often kept as pets, and there is a breed called a Kuni Kuni.
.......Royal Dandies are actually direct descendants of pot belly pigs..........just though I'd add that..............;-)

That's great., thanks so much for all your answers!

I can now tell my boyfriend correctly what animals I want!!!!
Is the dog called a 'hotdog'!!!!!!????? - and the pig called 'babe'?????!!!!!!!!

;-P
Be wary about getting a pig as a pet - even the smallest ones may grow as large as 1501b. Piglets look cute but grow within 4 years to something much larger!
