We have noticed that our Cat does this too and we have concluded that when it rains she doesn't go out as much so then she get bored and runs us ragged!!.

have you ever noticed how mental cats go when its windy. Mine throws herself up trees, chases leaves and dashes about like a lunatic...same thing happens to kids in playgrounds apparently, except for the tree thing i would assume...
