I've got a female ferret and would like to get her some company but from a rescue centre.

Our local rspca has 5 neutered males but I've heard they smell more than females.

Having said that my female smelt untill I gave her jumpers to sleep in and washed them a lot.

Can anyone tell me please if the ferrets themselves smell worse.

Thanks

Male ferrets in general do smell more than females but neutered ones aren't nearly as bad.... about the same as an entire female, if that makes sense?!
I cuddled a ferret on the market a couple of weeks ago, and could not work out what the awful smell was for the rest of the day. My fleece absolutely stank and when I got home and chucked it on the washing pile, my dogs queued up to pee on it!
By the way, is ferret cuddling still legal ?(LOL)

I have to say, that I wore a fleece once only when I held my ferret as that seemed to hold the smell, other fabrics don't

Ferrets are cool ... remember it's only a bad smell if you don't lke it ....
Yes the hobs do smell worse than the jills but they are both lovely as for the smell catching on clothes it will catch on any fabric so after handleing you should wash your clothes the only time it will not catch is if you have just bathed your ferrets, I will say this though hobs do anal gland scent more than jills and this really stinks one of mine did it on my dog we have to bath him in ferret shampoo to get rid of the smell cause his normal shampoo did nothing to remove it
